JACOB'S NAME CHANGED TO ISRAEL

 JACOB'S NAME CHANGED TO ISRAEL

Genesis 32:22-32

22) And he rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two women servants, and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford Jabbok.

23) And he took them, and sent them over the brook, and sent over that he had.

24) And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

25) And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.

26) And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

27) And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.

28) And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

29) And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.

30) And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

31) And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh.

32) Therefore the children of Israel eat not of the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob's thigh in the sinew that shrank.

WORKS OF THE FLESH

Galatian 5:19-21

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

THE VISIT OF QUEEN OF SHEBA TO KING SOLOMON

THE VISIT OF QUEEN OF SHEBA TO KING SOLOMON

The visit of Queen of Sheba is explained in

First Kings chapter 10 verses 1 to 13

And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the Lord, she came to prove him with hard questions.

And she came to Jerusalem with a very great train, with camels that bare spices, and very much gold, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.

And Solomon told her all her questions: there was not any thing hid from the king, which he told her not.

And when the queen of Sheba had seen all Solomon's wisdom, and the house that he had built,

And the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel, and his cupbearers, and his ascent by which he went up unto the house of the Lord; there was no more spirit in her.

And she said to the king, It was a true report that I heard in mine own land of thy acts and of thy wisdom.

Howbeit I believed not the words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the half was not told me: thy wisdom and prosperity exceedeth the fame which I heard.

Happy are thy men, happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and that hear thy wisdom.

Blessed be the Lord thy God, which delighted in thee, to set thee on the throne of Israel: because the Lord loved Israel for ever, therefore made he thee king, to do judgment and justice.

And she gave the king an hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices very great store, and precious stones: there came no more such abundance of spices as these which the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon.

And the navy also of Hiram, that brought gold from Ophir, brought in from Ophir great plenty of almug trees, and precious stones.

And the king made of the almug trees pillars for the house of the Lord, and for the king's house, harps also and psalteries for singers: there came no such almug trees, nor were seen unto this day.

And king Solomon gave unto the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever she asked, beside that which Solomon gave her of his royal bounty. So she turned and went to her own country, she and her servants.

HOW SOLOMON GOT HIS WISDOM

Solomon succeeded King David as The Final King of Unified Nation of Israel. Solomon was the Biblical King most Famous for his Wisdom.

First Kings chapter 3 verses 1 to 15 explains how Solomon acquired His Wisdom.

1) And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh's daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the Lord, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.

2) Only the people sacrificed in high places, because there was no house built unto the name of the Lord, until those days.

3) And Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.

4) And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.

5) In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.

6) And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.

7) And now, O Lord my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.

8) And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.

9) Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

10) And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.

11) And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;

12) Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

13) And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.

14) And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.

15) And Solomon awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.

Solomon became what we would call a Renaissance Man as a result of God's Blessing.

Solomon's Famous Judgement

Solomon's Famous Judgement

The author of First King intended the story to demonstrate the Profound wisdom God had bestowed upon Solomon. The King acted as Israel's One Man Supreme Court serving as the Final Level of appeal i

Difficult Cases.

This particular case involved a Quandary between two Prostitutes.

First Kings chapter 3 verses 16 to 28

Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto

the king, and stood before him. And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house. And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we

were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.

And this woman's child died in the night; because she overlaid it.

And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in

her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom. And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck,

behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear.

And the other woman said, Nay, but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but the dead is thy son, and the living is my son. Thus they spake before the king.

Then said the king. The one saith, This is my son that; liveth, and thy son is the dead: and the other saith, Nay; but thy son is the dead, and my son is the living.

And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.

And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.

Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it.

Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof

And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw th the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.

3) He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

PSALM 91 MOST POWERFUL PRAYER To Break Bonds

PSALM 91  MOST POWERFUL PRAYER

1) He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2) I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. 3) Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. 4) He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. 5) Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; 6) Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. 7) A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. 8) Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. 8) Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; 9) There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. 10) For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. 11) They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. 12) Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. 13) Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. 14) He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. 15) With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation. DIVORCE AND SECOND MARRIAGE (Jesus saying about divorce and second Marriage)

What did Jesus Really say about Divorce and Remarriage? It is explained in Mark 10:2-12 2) And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him. 3) And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you? 4) And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away. 5) And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. 6) But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. 7) For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; 8) And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. 9) What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. 10) And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter. 11) And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. 12) And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery. SAMSON'S RIDDLE

                  SAMSON'S RIDDLE

Samson's riddle is found in the biblical Book of Judges, where it is incorporated into a larger narrative about Samson, the last of the judges of the ancient Israelites. The story of Samson's riddle with which he challenges his thirty wedding guest is explained in chapter 14 of the Book of Judges. Judges Chapter 14 1) And Samson went down to Timnath, and saw a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines. 2) And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines: now therefore get her for me to wife. 3) Then his father and his mother said unto him, Is there never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well. 4) But his father and his mother knew not that it was of the Lord, that he sought an occasion against the Philistines: for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel. 5) Then went Samson down, and his father and his mother, to Timnath, and came to the vineyards of Timnath: and, behold, a young lion roared against him. 6) And the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done. 7) And he went down, and talked with the woman; and she pleased Samson well. 8) And after a time he returned to take her, and he turned aside to see the carcase of the lion: and, behold, there was a swarm of bees and honey in the carcase of the lion. 9) And he took thereof in his hands, and went on eating, and came to his father and mother, and he gave them, and they did eat: but he told not them that he had taken the honey out of the carcase of the lion. 10) So his father went down unto the woman: and Samson made there a feast; for so used the young men to do. 11) And it came to pass, when they saw him, that they brought thirty companions to be with him. 12) And Samson said unto them, I will now put forth a riddle unto you: if ye can certainly declare it me within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then I will give you thirty sheets and thirty change of garments: 13) But if ye cannot declare it me, then shall ye give me thirty sheets and thirty change of garments. And they said unto him, Put forth thy riddle, that we may hear it. 14) And he said unto them, Out of the eater came forth meat, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not in three days expound the riddle. 15) And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said unto Samson's wife, Entice thy husband, that he may declare unto us the riddle, lest we burn thee and thy father's house with fire: have ye called us to take that we have? is it not so? 16) And Samson's wife wept before him, and said, Thou dost but hate me, and lovest me not: thou hast put forth a riddle unto the children of my people, and hast not told it me. And he said unto her, Behold, I have not told it my father nor my mother, and shall I tell it thee? 17) And she wept before him the seven days, while their feast lasted: and it came to pass on the seventh day, that he told her, because she lay sore upon him: and she told the riddle to the children of her people. 18) And the men of the city said unto him on the seventh day before the sun went down, What is sweeter than honey? And what is stronger than a lion? and he said unto them, If ye had not plowed with my heifer, ye had not found out my riddle. 19) And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and slew thirty men of them, and took their spoil, and gave change of garments unto them which expounded the riddle. And his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father's house. 20) But Samson's wife was given to his companion, whom he had used as his friend. God Bless You!
